Our company's history
Since 1975, five decades of electrification and innovation have shaped Adigo. We’ve steadily expanded our product portfolio and grown our expertise in sustainability and technical development.
1975
A spark of innovation
Specialmaskiner AB is founded as part of the Specma group under Latour, focusing on electrical motors for industrial use. Based in Högsbo just outside Gothenburg, we begin our journey in electrifying various applications.
Timeline
1980's – Expanding Through Partnerships
Renamed Specma Drives, we forge multiple distribution agreements with European, American, and Japanese brands, broadening our range of motors, controllers, and gearboxes.
1998 – Moving Into Custom Solutions
We take on in-house design and assembly, initially for medical machinery. This marks our first major step toward offering complete, tailored drive solutions.
2001 – Embracing Quality and Sustainability
Achieving ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 underscores our commitment to consistent quality and environmental stewardship.
2003 – Venturing Internationally
Our growing expertise leads to new markets, with a strong entry into Germany setting the stage for broader global reach.
2006 – Joining the Addtech Family
Specma Drives becomes part of Addtech, bringing our dedicated team and know-how into a larger network for innovation.
2007
Becoming Adigo Drives
We rebrand to Adigo Drives AB and relocate to Mölndal. The name "Adigo" draws from "Addtech in Gothenburg" and also captures the essence of force and drive.
2010 – Evolving into a System Integrator
By boosting our product development capabilities, we transform into a full-scale system integrator, meeting the growing demand for advanced electric solutions.
2015 – Strengthening Through Merger
Incorporating our sister company Adiator (Automotive) broadens our production and sales potential. Turnover rises to 10M EUR with a team of 15.
2016 – Meeting Automotive-Grade Standards.
Certification to IATF 16949 reaffirms our dedication to the highest quality benchmarks, especially for automotive clients.
2020 – Broadening Our System Portfolio
We become a complete system provider, offering motors, controllers, HMIs, Li-batteries, chargers, and more to power electrification projects from end to end.
2024 – Launching Our Own Brand
Introducing Adigo-branded electrical motors with integrated controls, HMI, and intelligent software for IoT connectivity. We reach a turnover of 20M EUR with a workforce of 25.
2025 – Celebrating 50 Years of Progress
Fifty years on, we're proud to have played a key role in electrifying industries and pioneering innovative solutions. We thank everyone who has been part of our journey and look forward to even greater achievements in the future.
